Ever nearer, explore the bustling waterfront of Rockland, the "lobster capital of the world." A fishing community turned cultural center, Rockland is home to the renowned Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center, the newly opened Maine Lighthouse Museum, and the historic Strand Theater, recently restored — along with a colorful array of shops and restaurants. From the Rockland Harbor, feel the saltwater spray on a ferry trip out to one of the island you've wondered about from your balcony by the bay. For a peaceful walk, stroll out on the jetty in Rockland Harbor and relax at the Breakwater lighthouse while the boats sail peacefully by.

Don't forget that the Maine State Lobster Festival takes place every summer in Rockland during the the first week of August. Also, the North Atlantic Blues Festival takes place every July and has become a hit with Blues Fans around the country.
